Chaim Gvati ( nee Svishaz) was born in Pinsk ( then part of the Russian Empire) on the 29th of January, 1901
Education; He first had a traditional schooling in the Heder. Later attended a teacher seminary in Vilna (by then the area became part of Poland) He became active member of the Zionist movement and made Aliyah to Eretz Israel in 1924.
In 1926 Kibbutz Gvat and he changed his name to Gvati ( from Gvat) A member of the secretariat of the Kibbutz Meuchad Movement After the split he became a leader of the Ichud members of Kibbutzim.
in 1954 he moved to Kibbutz Yifaat. One of the principal leaders of the Histadrut

Haim Gvati – was Minister of Health and Minister of Agriculture. He passed away in October of 1990.
