#siau-port-1: Victor Brenner was born in Siaulai, Lithuana in 1871 and became a noted sculptor and engraver. Brenner studied at the Academie Julian in Paris as well as in Riga and Kovno. He emigrated to the United States in 1890. He lived mostly in the New York area. Was helped by Prof. Etlinger. He Designed Medals and coins (also American coins at the request of president Roosevelt). He wrote a book about the art of making Medals. Victor David Brenner died in 1924 in New York.

Shlomo Choronzshitski was born in Siauliai in 1877 to Yisrael, a textile salesman. After he graduated from the Russian high school in Shavle, he attended law school in St. Petersburg. A became a well known lawyer and involved in Jewish education and social and political movements ( Zionist). In 1921 he returned to Siauliai and together with his brother, ran the leather factory. In 1928 he moved to Kovno and worked as a lawyer as well as a member of the city council. He wrote a book about last names in Eretz Yisrael. He passed away in Kovno in 1938.

RABBI AHARON Bakst was born in Ivie in 1867. He studied in Volozhin and Slobodka. As rabbi of Shaduva he established a Yeshiva there. In exile in Russia during World War I, he served as a rabbi in several communities. After the war he returned to Lithuania, being rabbi of Suvalkan and later Lomza. After encountering some problems with the Zionists, he left Lomza to serve in Shauliai. During the Soviet days ( 1940- 1941) he kept teaching and many would come to hear is sermons. He was amongst the first to be killed, as soon as the Germans entered Siauliai in 1941.

Dr. Aharon Pik ( 1872- 1944)
Doctor and writer Dr. Aharon Pik was born in Keidan in 1872 to David (The Melamed/ teacher). Aharon was a teacher of Torah in Siauliai. At the start of 1900s he moved to France and studied Medicine. During the First World war he practiced Medicine in Southern France. After the war he returned to Siauliai . He was a physician, a writer, and politicly involved. He perished in the Siauliai ghetto in 1944. Here is a Yad vashem report by his daughter in law from Kibbutz Nezer Sireni;

Aharon Pieck was born in Lithuania to David. He was married to Dvora Tac. Prior to WWII he lived in Sauliai, Lithuania. During the war was in Sauliai, Lithuania. He died in 1944 in Sauliai, Lithuania. This information is based on a Page of Testimony submitted on 08/05/1978 by his daughter-in-law Chaia ( nee Nudel). Pieck Debora Debora Pieck nee Tac was born in Lithuania. She was married. Prior to WWII she lived in Shavel, Lithuania. During the war was in Shavel, Lithuania. Debora died in 1944 in Stutthof. This information is based on a Page of Testimony submitted on 08/04/1978 by her daughter in-law.
